SCONE- A fire that lev-elled a farm house near Chesley on Oct. 28 was not as serious as some onlookers may have thought. The rea-son? The fire, in an aban-doned farm house at Scone, was deliberately set as a training exercise for volun-teer members of the Chesley and Area Fire Department and other local firefighters.

Property owners Wally and Ken Schaus and Peter Kotzeff from Schaus Land and Cattle Co., provided the vacant two-storey brick home to the Chesley firefighters earlier this year.

"We have had some very valuable training because of their donation," Chesley Fire Chief Robert Bell said, in ex-pressing the department's appreciation to the property owners.

SOUTHAMPTON - Saugeen Shores Fire Department received assistance from Arran-Tara Fire Department in putting out a blaze at the corner of Spence Street and Carlise Street in Southampton Friday night.

Over 90 invited guests witnessed 2 demonstrations of how the DSPA-5 knocks down the flames and reduces the temperature in a building fire.
